Thanks Patricia. Keep painting. It’s the best way to learn. Paint what you love and only what you really want to paint. Paint to please yourself. Make an honest effort with each painting and move on. With each painting your skill at handling the medium and your ability to see and to mix colors will improve. And it’s very important to paint from life when ever you can. Still life is a great teacher..
I teach painting (oils, acrylic, and watercolor) and drawing in Naples, Florida, from November through April at the River Park Community Center (239-213-3037). They are six week courses, all levels. Join us if you get to Naples.

p.s.: A good instructional book is a good idea too. There are so many available – it’s best to look through them at a book store and pick out what seems most helpful. And do yourself a big favor and buy good brushes. I recommend Jerry’s Catalog for supplies (1-800-827-8478).
There’s great joy in expressing yourself in painting but I’ve found it requires a lot of work and time. AS

I am just starting again with acrylic painting. I am truly inspired by your creations. They are beautiful. My painting just happens to evolve once I start with an idea. You have such clarity, I only wish some day to paint as well as you. I have taken this hobby up again to get back in touch with my inner self. This painting makes me feel as if I am back in Florida. It really has captured my heart as I feel as if I am back again for a visit. I currently reside in Gran Canaria and, like you seemingly, I am greatly influenced by my surroundings. This then comes to fruition in my paintings too. Hope to see more of your art soon.
